Blockchain technology offers a promising avenue for improving the efficacy of wheelchair fall detection systems. It enables the secure recording of fall events, including crucial details like timestamps and location data. Falls are a major concern for the elderly population, as they can lead to injuries, loss of mobility, and even death. To address this issue, researchers have been developing intelligent surveillance systems, specifically vision-based systems, which can automatically monitor and detect falls in real time. Many current fall detection systems primarily depend on physiological elements like walking patterns, sight, and mental abilities. However, they tend to overlook the complex combination of factors contributing to falls and the necessity for a more inclusive method in identifying falls. The proposed approach in this study advocates for the integration of IoT sensors into wheelchairs to enhance the accuracy of fall detection. By leveraging these sensors, real-time data can be collected and analyzed using algorithms programmed through the Arduino compiler. This enables the system to accurately identify instances of falls and promptly transmit alerts to healthcare personnel or caregivers, facilitating immediate assistance and intervention when necessary. Blockchain and the Internet of Things represent two transformative technologies that, when combined, offer a plethora of innovative possibilities across various sectors. The wheelchair fall detection system aims to address the limitations of existing fall detection systems by incorporating a comprehensive approach that considers multiple factors contributing to falls. “Prevention Care” goes beyond mere detection, incorporating preventive measures to reduce fall risks.
