Design and Implementation of an Aadhaar-Based E-Voting System with Facial Recognition for Enhanced Security and Accessibility

The necessity of digital technology in virtually every field has provided ample opportunity for the modernization and advancement of the electoral, and elections in particular, processes. In this paper the conception and implementation of a web based online election system will be presented with its focal point being the modernization of the voting process while transparency, security and accessibility aspects being central to it. The use of HTML5, CSS3 and responsive designing with the assistance of bootstrap, dynamic content creation through use of JavaScript, or its jQuery library, a robust back-end in the form of PHP and MySQL database and Integration of Aadhaar linked facial recognition to the conduction of elections to aim at maintaining Voter On the systems designed, the simple measures of login with e-mail and passwords, as used in most systems today, is also availed for voters to login into their accounts safely and securely. Voter registration and notices of voting days as well as candidates’ information are all incorporated in the managing admin panel of the election process. All this information concerning the voters and the respective votes is encrypted in order to foster confidentiality and trust. The given online election system fights with those major problems that exist in India, concerning the electorate such as fraud, accessibility and inordinate management of huge manual elections. By using an encrypted digital platform; the election processes for both the voters and the voters’ managers are made to be secure, scalable and transparent. It reflects back to the system’s architecture, the technologies to be deployed and the need for such approaches in the country vis-a-vis aiming for high voter turnout and security of the process.
