Smart grid technology increases reliability, security, and efficiency of the electrical grids. However, its strong dependencies on digital communication technology bring up new vulnerabilities that need to be considered for efficient and reliable power distribution. Smart grids have become susceptible to cyberattacks, being one of the most diversified cyber-physical systems. Despite the significant development in network security, the existing solutions are unable to completely defend the smart grids against malicious threats. To overcome these problems, we propose CLAIRE a defensive mechanism based on artificial intelligence and fuzzy logic for cyberattack detection and trust management. Our solution not only secures the smart grid as a whole but it enables the protection of individual components of its network assets. To ensure the validity of our results we have integrated our framework to an existing Smart Home infrastructure nZEB Smart House in Greece.
