As wireless communication technology has advanced, so too has the need for wireless gadgets. It is extremely necessary for spectrum to enable these wireless devices because it is the foundation of wireless communication. Cognitive Radio (CR) uses spectrum sensing to identify the available bandwidth. Other cognitive radio functions can be achieved after spectrum sensing is established. Therefore, the primary prerequisite for cognitive radio is effective spectrum sensing. This paper discusses spectrum sensing methods and issues. The framework of cognitive radio is summarized based on research. This work discusses collaborative spectrum detection and the ways it is classified. We also looked into the IEEE standards' spectral scanning techniques.
