Xue Li · Frontiers in artificial intelligence and applications · 2025

In order to solve the problem that the communication and positioning means used in tunnel construction have poor communication signals and cannot provide accurate positioning signals, an intelligent system for optimizing the positioning of personnel and equipment in digital tunnels is proposed. In this paper, based on field editable gate array (FPGA) as the main control hardware, we propose a wireless transmission positioning system based on the principle of ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning technology. The basic principle of UWB positioning is based on the trilateral measurement algorithm, and adaptive Kalman filtering is introduced in the back-end data processing to further improve its positioning accuracy. The experimental results show that the system has the advantages of low power consumption and high efficiency at the hardware level, and the Kalman filter at the algorithm level can make the system achieve higher accuracy, with the static ranging accuracy within 0.1m and the dynamic ranging accuracy within 0.2m. Conclusion: The system can locate the staff for a long time with high accuracy and high efficiency. The system is experimentally verified to be able to track and localize the workers with high accuracy and strong robustness in the absence of network.
