Hardware Dependencies in Quantum Error Correction
Saurabh Suman · 2025
Quantum error correction (QEC) is crucial for mitigating noise and decoherence in quantum systems. However, its effectiveness depends on the underlying qubit hardware. This poster compares surface codes, which require many physical qubits, with bosonic codes, which reduce hardware overhead using superconducting resonators. Key factors such as qubit connectivity, gate fidelity, and decoherence times are analyzed to understand their impact on QEC efficiency. Additionally, some advancements are discussed for improving error correction. Understanding these dependencies is essential for optimizing QEC techniques and advancing fault-tolerant quantum computing.
