Software effort estimation is ill-defined task, which can be solved relatively effectively only by artificial intelligence and machine learning methods. It was reported in recent scientific papers and immediately attracted the attention of managers in the field of software engineering. Since so far this problem has been solved by the expert method. The cost and timing errors during the software project management caused by the "human factor" refers to the main risks in software development and implementation projects. Obviously, it is desirable to reduce this risk by using computer technology and appropriate automated algorithms. This paper presents an analysis of the most notable published scientific papers in the field of software effort estimation automation . It is shown how the methods of solving this problem have changed by now.
