Authentication Method Using Bluetooth for University Security Guards

Shuya Watanabe, Ryozo Kiyohara · 2025

On many Japanese university campuses, people can freely enter and exit during the day. However, for security reasons, only authorized people can stay at night. Therefore, security guards often patrol the campus at night. Furthermore, students do not always wear name tags when on campus, making it necessary to determine whether individuals have permission. Therefore, we propose a method that allows security guards to easily determine whether a person is authorized through the use a smartphone, Specifically, an application that uses Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is proposed to make the determination even in the dark.
