This study addresses the gap in understanding publication trends and research outputs related to cybersecurity in higher education. Despite the growing importance of cybersecurity, there is limited comprehensive analysis of how this field is evolving within academic research globally. We conducted bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science database covering 2011 to 2023. We employed co-authorship, co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence analyses using VOSviewer to visualize collaborative networks and research themes. Results indicate a significant increase in publications since 2016, with notable contributions from researchers and institutions in the USA, England, and Australia. Key research themes identified include data protection, privacy, and technology integration in cybersecurity education. We conclude that while a robust and growing body of research remains, there is a need for broader international collaboration and inclusion of diverse publication types. The results have important implications for policymakers, educators, and researchers in developing more effective cybersecurity strategies and educational programs.
