Comprehensive Evaluation of Pharmacological Risks: Enhancing Drug Safety through Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Advanced Methodologies

Elena Leonova · Power System Technology · 2024

Pharmacological risks are a critical issue in contemporary medicine, encompassing adverse drug reactions (ADRs), drug-drug interactions (DDIs), incorrect dosing, and individual differences in drug metabolism. These risks pose significant challenges to patient safety, treatment efficacy, and overall healthcare outcomes. This literature review provides a comprehensive analysis of the current research landscape, focusing on key factors influencing pharmacotherapy safety. The review explores the prevalence and severity of ADRs, the complexity of DDIs, and the impact of incorrect dosing on therapeutic outcomes. It also highlights the role of pharmacogenomics in understanding individual variability in drug responses and the importance of personalized medicine in mitigating pharmacological risks. Additionally, the review examines advancements in pharmacovigilance, including the integration of big data analytics and machine learning, to improve the detection and management of drug-related issues. Through an interdisciplinary approach, involving collaboration among scientists, clinicians, pharmacists, and regulatory agencies, this review underscores the necessity of ongoing research and the implementation of innovative methodologies to enhance drug safety and optimize patient care.
