Sign language is a crucial form of communication for individuals with hearing impairments, enabling them to express themselves effectively. However, the complexity of sign language and the general public’s limited understanding of it often create communication barriers. This research bridges the communication gap between them and allows them to understand sign language easily. The wearable device suggested herein utilises a set of light-dependent resistors (LDRs) strategically placed on the user’s fingers, allowing it to recognise and interpret specific hand gestures. The system then translates the gestures into corresponding sign language messages, which it then displays on an integrated LCD screen in real time. Furthermore, the system integrates a Bluetooth module (HC-05) to amplify the accessibility of the transmitted message through a mobile app. The outcome of accuracy achieved would be around 90% for the emotions of the sentence accuracy.
