Abstract Once the carrier-based aircraft deviates from the ideal glide slope, it will lead to landing failure and accidents. Therefore, the evaluation of glide slope rating is not only an evaluation of the pilot’s driving skills but also an assessment of the safety of landing. The existing LSO evaluation and data evaluation methods are characterized by strong subjectivity and a complex scoring process. Therefore, using the Cloud Model method to evaluate it became a good choice. This method realizes the transformation between qualitative evaluation rating and quantitative parameters and obtains the membership degree of the parameters of evaluation to the rating by the similarity between cloud models. At the same time, the method of weighting based on information entropy is adopted to avoid the influence of subjective factors caused by artificial weighting. The case analysis shows that the glide slope rating method based on the cloud model can carry out glide slope characteristics evaluation more quickly, accurately, and objectively, and is suitable for carrier-based aircraft pilots’ driving skills evaluation and landing risk assessment.
