Abstract The intermittent Duffing chaotic system has the tolerance of the line spectrum frequency offset characteristics and is more suitable for underwater acoustic weak signal detection applications. However, when the intermittent Duffing chaotic system is used to detect the characteristic line spectrum of weak unknown target, there is a problem of ‘left and right ambiguity’ of the real characteristic frequency of the target. In view of the above problems, the output response envelope solution of Duffing chaotic system is derived by using harmonic analysis method, and the mapping relationship between the input signal to be measured and the output response signal is given. Then, a multi-intermittent Duffing chaotic feature fusion system is constructed. The influence of the ‘left and right ambiguity’ of the real feature frequency of the target is eliminated, and the effective identification and fusion enhancement of the weak target features are realized.
