For the protection of images, plenty of image encryption algorithms have been developed in the present years. Cryptanalysis of the existing papers solely depends on the keys used in the encryption process, whereas differential attacks also have equal importance. Two measures commonly used for analyzing differential attacks in a system are NPCR and UACI. From the study of existing papers, even though high NPCR and UACI are obtained, few of the values lie in the critical values of a-level significance, which in turn increases the possibility of differential attacks. To overcome this, an efficient encryption scheme is proposed based on the convolution operation and applied on the spatial information of the plain image for generating the keys of the encryption process. The one-time key is also utilized for achieving Shannon’s perfect secrecy. The proposed chaotic feedback convolution is proved against various test cases using simulations. Both numerical and theoretical analyses are performed to prove that the proposed encryption method is resistant to differential attacks.
