Quantum Communications and the Quantum Internet

Daniel Minoli, Benedict Occhiogrosso · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2025

Although Quantum Computers (QCs) can operate locally for some basic, discrete applications, their full value arises when a (large) number of such computers can be interconnected over a distance to form a synergistic array or web of processing engines, just as has been the case with classical computers and local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and global area networks (GANs) such as the Internet. Networking has always been known as having the ability to enhance inherent computational power by linking multiple systems together.
