Belimo: Innovation in Comfort, Energy Efficiency, and Safety Solutions with Product Lines

Belimo, a global heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) field device leader, started its transition to model-based product line engineering (MBPLE) with the aim to boost reusability, improve variability management, and ensure consistency and quality in its modular products. This shift underscores Belimo's commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. In this chapter, we introduce Belimo's variability modeling approach, comprising two stages: a conceptual level enabled by model-based systems engineering and a design/industrialization level, where the final product configuration is achieved. As Belimo is transitioning to an MBPLE approach, this chapter showcases the benefits already being realized.
