Advancing Digital Forensics: Harnessing Blockchain for Evidence Authentication
Kanika Pandit, Renu Mahajan · 2024
As the information era progresses at a quick pace, electronic evidence has become more and more important in court proceedings, accounting for a growing percentage of related material. Tamper-proof storage, authenticity identification, and lawful exchange of electronic evidence are subject to stringent standards in the real court process, which presents several security issues. Electronic evidence will be significantly less valid in court if these requirements are not satisfied. But these demands are beyond the capabilities of the technology solutions now in use. Blockchain technology offers a novel approach to the storing and retrieval of electronic evidence because of its tamper-proof and decentralised features. The current study provides an explanation of the digital evidence. In this article, the authors explain blockchain technology and go over the general design of blockchain-based digital forensics. The application of blockchain technology to the admissibility of electronic evidence is discussed throughout this article.
