Data transmission over the Internet is significantly increasing due to the Internet of Things. This has led to significant concerns about security and privacy, as sensitive information is being shared among these devices. However, the complexity and severity of the security concerns are significantly more severe because of the heterogeneity of Internet of Things objects. Moreover, the resource-constrained characteristics limit the use of security techniques like antivirus, firewall, and intrusion detection systems that need significant computing capabilities. Numerous methods have been explored to safeguard user privacy and security, but lightweight encryption/decryption techniques and blockchain methods have emerged as the most effective. Lightweight cryptographic algorithms ensure that private and sensitive data is kept secure while receiving, saving, and processing. Similarly, a decentralized, immutable blockchain structure enables security in the form of a ledger, lowering the data integrity risk.
