Integrating social conventions into human-robot interaction is essential for enhancing user comfort and acceptance. While creating smooth and soft robotic movements is a foundational requirement, it alone does not guarantee socially acceptable behaviour. To address this, a comprehensive interaction process model is needed, enabling the understanding of human participants and regulating the internal dynamics of social robot interactions. This study presents a systematic review of existing interaction models between humans and social robots, focusing on three critical aspects: social perception, behavioural adaptation, and communication strategies, which are foundational for a human-in-the-loop control framework. Results demonstrate that the proposed system effectively navigates various interference scenarios and dynamically adjusts its behaviour over time, showcasing its potential for robust and adaptive human-robot interaction in real-world settings.
