Our Project aims at identifying deficiencies in existing geriatric care strategies, aiming to introduce comprehensive and impactful solutions. One of the innovative solutions being explored in this project is the integration of geofencing technology into geriatric fall detection and prediction. Geofencing, a location-based service that allows for the creation of virtual boundaries, holds tremendous potential in enhancing the safety and security of elderly individuals, especially those prone to wandering associated with dementia. By setting up geofence around specific areas such as homes, care facilities, or familiar landmarks, caregivers and health-care professionals can receive alerts upon breach of the designated area and take precautionary actions. Not only it helps preventing accidents and incidents, but also provides independence to the geriatric patients and peace of mind to caregivers and family members, knowing that their loved ones are being monitored and protected. Our project integrates inertial and accelerometer sensors, to predict and detect falls among elderly individuals. By defining thresholds based on movement patterns and acceleration, these sensors continuously monitor the patient&s;s movements. When deviations indicative of a potential fall is detected, real-time alert is generated, enabling timely intervention. of elderly and dementia care.
