Initial analytical representation of TCP variants in the context of “error and congestion”

Aparajita Biswal, Rahul D. Mehta · 2025

TCP/IP stack is an early implication of the Internet stack. Number of modifications till now in transport layer that includes, firstly an evolution of optimized congestion control, secondly, a brand new protocol completely overshadowing transmission control protocol (TCP), and at last a new multipath capability. However, covering all three points is quiet vast to incorporate in a common research. That’s why this paper emphasizes the TCP variants’ performance over the 4 decades and further shows the pre-work to develop an efficient algorithm that will be applicable on TCP in wireless network using cloud-IoT. As completely overshadowing, TCP is looking impossible because TCP protocol is highly penetrated in almost all types of network environments. The simulation results of the paper include throughput analysis in different error rates and congestion control on basic variants like Tahoe, Reno, NewReno, Vegas, and SACK which are a pre-work for the development of an efficient algorithm.
