The article is a brief review of Russian-language publications included in the Russian Science Citation Index, which present the results of applying the method of geometric morphometry in archaeological research. The main attention is paid to the sources to which the method was applied. The conclusion is made about the possibility of using the method of geometric morphometry for a wide range of phenomena (both artifacts and elements of architecture, decorations and even traces of life activity), as well as the tasks to be solved – from typologization to tracing variability, which in combination with the application of other approaches provides a significant field for scientific conclusions. It is noted that the potential of this method has not yet been fully disclosed and can be used in new areas of archaeological research.
