such as CS2023, provide well-researched and detailed guidance about the recommended content of an undergraduate computer science (CS) program.Historically, liberal arts CS programs have perceived a mismatch between ACM/ IEEE guidelines and their own institutional context and goals.These educators need best practices for using curricular guidelines that acknowledge the opportunities and priorities of the liberal arts.This paper reviews the context of computing in the liberal arts and presents a process for working with curriculum guidelines through the lens of institutional mission and program identity.This process facilitates the development of distinctive institutionally aligned curricula.
