The present study proposes enhancements to the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) with the aim of enhancing security measures and ensuring authentication within Internet of Things (IoT) networks. The importance of prioritizing secure communication in the context of IoT devices cannot be overstated, as it serves as a critical measure to mitigate the risks associated with unwanted access and data breaches. The CoAP protocol has been reinforced with robust authentication mechanisms to authenticate the identities of both clients and servers, thereby enhancing the security of Internet of Things (IoT) networks. This enhancement addresses the limitations associated with traditional CoAP implementations and offers a more robust framework for communication among Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Through the implementation of authentication protocols, IoT networks may mitigate the risk of illegal access and safeguard critical data, hence fostering confidence and reliability in IoT deployments.
