SafeMeds: A Blockchain-Driven Drug Supply Chain Verification System
K Shruthi, A.S Poornima · 2024
Innovative steps are required to secure the drug supply chain since public health is in danger due to the increase in pharmaceutical drug counterfeiting. The goal of this work is to use blockchain technology to combat the pervasive issue of false medications and improve temperature-controlled distribution security in the pharmaceutical industry. The increasing entry of tainted pharmaceuticals onto the market, which endangers patient security and erodes confidence in global systems of healthcare, emphasizes how urgent this undertaking is. The primary objective of this initiative is to develop a reliable and transparent blockchain-based system to ensure the authenticity and traceability of pharmaceutical products throughout their entire lifecycle, from production to distribution. By utilizing the decentralized and unchangeable ledger of blockchain technology, the system will enable instantaneous tracking and validation of the provenance of every medicine, guaranteeing safeguards against manipulation and counterfeiting. To maintain the integrity of temperature-sensitive PharmaChain Distribution, the implementation will also give priority to improving cold chain distribution by incorporating temperature-integrating sensors for humidity into the blockchain.
