Efficient Mitigation of DRAM Row Buffer Conflict Using Request Clustering in Manycore Systems

K. Chitra, Arjun Dey, Aryabartta Sahu · 2025

With rapid and competitive improvements in the processor domain, the processor's speed has been outpacing the rate at which data can be transferred to and from the memory system. This is known as the memory wall problem. It is the memory system optimization that has been a herculean task for many decades. The memory spends 40% [1] of the system's total energy. In many core systems, with a high number of cores and each core being multi-threaded, the memory system gets many independent requests to serve. To improve overall system performance and reduce memory access time, memory requests must be serviced quickly.
