With the advent of interconnectivity in today’s digital world, compliance with data protection laws has become a prime factor for protecting privacy. In turn, cryptographic technologies, like data encryption, authentication, and integrity, go a long way toward meeting compliance. Organizations seeking to ensure security in data privacy and security face numerous challenges in times of an ever-increasing data breach rate and the strict implementation of data protection laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation GDPR). It presents connections between regulatory compliance and cryptographic technologies, hence showing how technical implementations interact with legal constraints. We put together broad regulatory compliance frameworks that would link international data protection legislation and cryptography solutions. This review conducts using case studies in establishing the importance of cryptographic techniques in maintaining data privacy standards prescribed by international regulations. Additionally, it provides clear guidance and best practices to organizations for delivering both robust confidentiality of information and compliance with the law. According to the findings from this review encryption and anonymization plays a crucial role in GDPR and CCPA compliance. Essential resources address encryption methods along with laws and cryptographic uses.
