Nowadays a huge amount of data is being transmitted over the internet which demands a smart and secure security system which ensures that no third-party can access the data. Cryptography is applied for this cause which can be defined as data security technique where the data is sent in ciphered format such that only the person who is meant to read the message can read the actual message. Due to the vast parallelism nature of DNA strands, it can also be used as information storage in cryptography. In this paper, a simple yet efficient algorithm of DNA cryptography is proposed where the input data is a plain image. The image is first read and converted to text format and then it is again converted to ‘ATCG’ format applying DNA cryptography. Now, this sequence of ATCG (DNA String) is compressed using Huffman compression. The compressed sequence is used to generate a new image which is transmitted as the ciphered image. A few images are also used as test cases to show that this algorithm is efficient and secure. It is followed by the calculation of Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) of image to check the quality of the image.
