Image inpainting refers to the technique of restoring missing or damaged regions of an image while maintaining its overall visual coherence. This involves reconstructing lost or corrupted areas using a range of methodologies. In this paper, we introduce an overview of the public techniques ranging from traditional to modern techniques. The current paper offers an overall review of the state-of-the-art in image painting, evaluating the strengths and limitations of various approaches. Our goal is to introduce a piece of valuable information about image restoration, to encourage researchers to work in this field.
