To solve the problem of difficult volume calculation of irregular pits in ground collapse assessment and geological exploration, it is difficult to accurately describe irregular pits with simple geometric models due to their complex and variable shapes. Although the traditional 3D scanning technology can obtain point cloud data, the model constructed in the subsequent processing is complex and inefficient, resulting in inaccurate 3D point cloud stereo reconstruction of the target object and low accuracy of volume calculation of irregular pit bodies. By taking advantage of the high-resolution, high-precision and strong three-dimensional imaging capability of the 3D Imaging Lidar System, the volume of the irregular pit is calculated by the three-dimensional envelope accurate reconstruction and the improved "point cloud slicing method". The method accurately extracts the point cloud data of the irregular pit by plane fitting, and then adopts the 3D point cloud simplification method based on area division, which can efficiently and accurately calculate the volume of the irregular pit. Finally, the practicality of the method is systematically summarized through experiments to accurately evaluate the volume error.
