This paper focuses on developing a control-plane switch migration testbed using the Mininet-WiFi emulation platform for Software-Defined Vehicular Networking (SDVN). In the preliminary testing, a proof-of-concept testbed of control-plane switch migration is emulated and tested in Mininet-WiFi with a simplified topology design. The goal is to conduct a performance evaluation at the data-plane. The considered mobility model for vehicles in emulation is the random waypoint model. The comparison concludes that at low vehicle speeds, the control-plane switch migration does not give any significant advantages, but with additional incurred extra consumption in computation involved during the migration process. However, at high vehicle speeds, the case with the control-plane switch migration performs better than the case without the switch migration. The reported experimental results in this paper show that the control-plane switch migration improves at high vehicle speed in terms of averaged packet round trip time by 30 ms and averaged packet loss by 0.43%.
