In recent years, the global internet user base has surged to billions, significantly impacting various demographics where internet usage has risen. This increase correlates with a rise in cybercrimes, such as data exploitation, cyberbullying, and fraud exacerbated by high internet. The changing educational landscape, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has necessitated heightened parental awareness regarding children’s online activities and associated risks. This systematic literature review (SLR) analyzes existing research on parental awareness of cybersecurity. By synthesizing findings from various previous studies, the review seeks to identify five topics in the context of cybersecurity awareness among parents in Malaysia. The topics are (1) Parental involvement in cybersecurity, (2) Digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness, (3) Privacy concerns, (4) Technological barriers and accessibility, and (5) The role of community and policy. Therefore, the approach of awareness among parents about cybersecurity and parental monitoring of their children while surfing the internet is very important to avoid any cyber threats. Not just that, this can indirectly strengthen the relationship between parents and their children.
