Generalization of startup demonstration tests for balanced systems

Recently, studies on the reliability of balanced systems have gained great importance. New balance concepts have been developed to expand the operation of balanced systems. Different balance concepts also necessitate tests tailored to these concepts for reliable measurement. In this study, the reliability of the system is tested using startup demonstration tests, ensuring that the balance concept of the balanced system is not compromised with starting rules for k-out-of-n: F balanced systems with m sectors. In the study, traditional startup demonstration tests, TSTF, and CSTF tests have been generalized separately for balanced systems, and two new tests have been obtained. These tests are referred to as TSTF_GBS and CSTF_GBS startup demonstration tests. The proposed tests are applied to the multi-level unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are one of the most popular examples of k-out-of-n: F balanced systems with m sectors to illustrate their effectiveness. The success of the balanced system is classified as type 1 for high-reliability demand and type 2 for low-cost demand. The finite chain imbedding method is employed to assess the reliability of the system and calculate associated probabilistic measures for the proposed tests. Finally, numerical examples are presented to illustrate the results obtained in the paper.
