A Method to Determine the Impact from Disturbing Electrical Equipment on Digital Communication System by Using Apd
Kia Wiklundh · 2002
Amplitude Probability Distribution (APD) has been proposed within CISPR as a measure of the emitted electromagnetic energy from electrical equipment. This paper analyses the connection between the APD and the performance of digital communication systems. It describes a new method that enables the use of already existing and conventional error expressions for the performance of different digital and coherent radio receivers. Fulfilling some assumptions, the method incorporates a thermal receiver noise and provides a simple way to consider the effect of electromagnetic disturbances from surrounding electrical equipment, which often is of non-Gaussian nature and whose impact is complicated to estimate. This pave the way for the possibility to evaluate the influence of very complex electromagnetic environments.
