Excel for Chemical Engineering

In this chapter, the use of Excel to address problems within the chemical engineering curriculum is presented. First, the basic features are shown, including basic calculations, plotting, and use of the spreadsheet. Next several examples in the field of fluid mechanics, a network of pipes, unit operations, a cooling tower, process analysis, the development of mass and energy balances to the production of ammonia and nitric acid including recycling, reactor operation and separation processes, and equipment design such as multieffect evaporator systems, are solved with a clear presentation of each problem and how to implement and solve it with Excel.
