Identification Hardware Attacks of Integrated Circuit Design Data and Intellectual Property

Eriselda Guri Malaj, Galia Ilieva Marinova · 2024

It’s critical to comprehend the possible enemies who might launch an assault using the security flaws. This can assist designers in understanding the capabilities of attackers and selecting appropriate countermeasures based on the operation and targeted adversary. The enemy may take the form of an individual or an organized group that wants to get, destroy, or interfere with an asset that they are not authorized to access. Adversaries can be divided into insiders and outsiders when taking into account an integrated circuit design process and the companies involved. A design’s weaknesses can be introduced or exploited more readily by an insider than by an outsider. The biggest difficulty for an outsider to carry out an attack is that they might not always be aware of the design’s internal functions. The functioning of a chip can be reverse engineered by an outsider, although this process takes a lot of time and resources. In this paper we have designed some techniques such as: 1. The pre-silicon, 2. post-silicon security and 3. trust validation techniques to find possible vulnerabilities in a hardware design.
