Colorectal carcinoma in the third most affected disease worldwide. Generally, it is identified at chronic stage where the treatment options are very limited. CT, MRI, PET images are used for the assessment of the Colorectal cancer. Quality of the image is essential in order to identify abnormalities in any kind of medical images. In this study, CT dicom images are considered. During image acquisition, various noises occur in the image due to variation in radiation intensities and ambient conditions. These noises should be removed before image is being utilized. Hence, to enhance the image's quality, pre-processing is required. One of the two types of images pre-processing is noise reduction or image enhancement. By using various filtering techniques to remove noise from the images, the pre-processing step aims to enhance the user's impression of the image. Filtering techniques alter a image's texture and look by using the pixel information included in the image. In this study, noises seen in CT dicom images, including Gaussian noise, noise from salt and pepper, and passion noise, to talk about speckle noise. Additionally, the application of many filters for CT dicom image is discussed, including the mean, median, Gaussian, and Modified Gaussian bilateral filters.
