IoT (Internet of Things) generates massive amounts of data from sensor devices, where all devices are resource-constrained. Managing this huge amount of data efficiently becomes the major challenge in IoT. Existing IP-based networks are host-centric and not efficient in data management. ICN (Information Centric Network) is a content-based network that transmits content based on the content’s name rather than the content’s address. The main feature of ICN is in-network caching, which enables intermediate nodes to cache the content. This work proposed an efficient content caching technique for ICN-based IoT. The edge cluster is formed between edge devices, and the cluster head is selected based on the residual energy of the devices. When the cache is full, the unwanted content is replaced using the proposed RLWF replacement algorithm. The proposed work is simulated using ndnSIM, and results show that the proposed work achieves 5% efficiency in terms of hit ratio and reduces 8% of content retrieval delay.
