Application of Finite Element Technology in Vocational Education-Developing Visual Materials to Improve Teaching Effectiveness
Shang Wang, Zhe Sun, Pengshihan Bai · 2024
Vocational college students face challenges in understanding abstract concepts and complex formulas in their mechanics courses. To enhance teaching effectiveness, this study proposes a method of utilizing Finite Element Technology (FET) to obtain visual materials. By developing models, visual materials represented by von Mises stress plots were integrated into existing teaching resources. Feedback from students was collected through questionnaire surveys and student-teacher discussions to objectively evaluate the impact of FET on mechanics course instruction. Results indicate that 92.2% of students found the visual resources helpful in understanding stress distribution in solid and hollow shafts, and 93.1% of students expressed agreement with the teaching experiment. Students expressed a desire for the incorporation of more new technologies in future instruction. In conclusion, this research demonstrates that utilizing FET to obtain visual materials can effectively enhance the quality of mechanics education in vocational colleges.
