Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) present many potential benefits to the society such as improved road safety, efficient traffic management, and reduced energy consumption. However, due to their dependence on software for automation, mobility and connectivity, they present cybersecurity related concerns that can be exploited by hackers if not addressed. Such risks include distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, which can lead to operational failures; man-in-the-middle attacks that may allow cyber-criminals to intercept and/or compromise communication; and malware infections that can undermine system integrity causing significant disruptions in CAVs. To address these challenges, this paper presents a security orchestration automation and response (SOAR) solution for CAVs that detects and responds to cyber-threats in real-time.
