IP Network Performance Analysis in VoIP Environment

Vladimir Vichev, Todorka Georgieva · 2024

In the realm of network performance analysis, new innovations are emerging that focus on converged networks (data, voice, and video). This paper aims to explore the concept of performance analysis broadly, with a particular emphasis on IP networks. Focusing on the observation of packet loss, bandwidth, and packet inter-arrival time (also known as packet interval) on selected VoIP audio codecs under different network load conditions. Results from the study show that monitoring packet intervals provides a valuable and accurate indication of network congestion and packet loss, offering a more comprehensive data source for profiling IP network performance compared to traditional methods that focus solely on packet loss or latency.
