At 7:00 a.m. on October 15, 1986, John Rothwell, department manager of Allen-Bradley’s World Contactor Facility (WCI) 1 was sitting in his office looking over the schedule of tours coming through his area that day. The governor of Wisconsin would be visiting later that morning, and one of the company’s key customers would be arriving in the afternoon. For Rothwell the day would not be atypical since being a tour guide of the CIM facility was part of his daily routine. As he explained, “There are usually two to three tours per day. I give at least one of them, which can last up to two hours or more with the question-and-answer period.”
