An image encryption technique using hyperchaos with rich dynamics is developed in this paper. The systemgenerated hyperchaotic sequence-based row shuffling and diffusion operations are carried out for the encryption process. This system exhibits wide parametric ranges for chaotic and hyperchaotic behaviours with high complexity values. In addition, sequential cell division scrambling has been developed for efficient pixel scrambling. The encryption scheme of this article is applied to different medical images of different sizes and several analyses are carried out. These reveal that the proposed encryption scheme can resist effectively several assaults with a minimal computational burden, which is desired for real-time applications.
