From Experimentation to Insight: Structured Reporting of AI Experimentations in Libraries
Varun Gupta · Journal of Web Librarianship · 2025
This paper presents a structured approach to documenting and sharing AI experimentation outcomes in libraries, focusing on the development and application of a standardized outcome reporting template. The framework emphasizes the importance of detailed and accurate reporting to facilitate peer learning, support managerial assessments, and enhance the effectiveness of future experiments. This approach aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within library settings by integrating practical guidelines for documentation, knowledge sharing, and evaluation. The findings highlight how thorough and transparent reporting can drive informed decision-making and contribute to the overall success of digital transformation initiatives in libraries. Finally, the process model helps align the AI experimentation initiatives with the overall digital transformation program in the library to foster Monitoring & Evaluations. The template can promote collaboration among libraries, institutions, and patrons by standardizing the AI experimentations documents and sharing insights on platforms like LibGuides and OER repositories.
