Uncoupled Unsourced Random Access: Exploiting Geographical Diversity of Access Points

Zhentian Zhang, Jian Dang, Zaichen Zhang, Liang Wu, Bingcheng Zhu · IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology · 2025

This work studies the uncoupled unsourced random access (URA) problem under cell-free multi-single antenna input and multiple output (MIMO) scenario. A concatenated URA coding structure is introduced with successive interference cancellation (SIC). The proposed uncoupled URA dismantles the additional parity bits payload, which is an essential part under the structure of coded/coupled compressive sensing (CCS) categories. Moreover, discrepant to the current trends under centralized MIMO, the geographical feature of distributed access points (APs) in cell-free architecture is utilized to produce improved channel estimation by coarse location information, which is then utilized to stitch the detected signals for data restoration. Also, SIC procedure is adopted as an iterative approach to enhance the overall performance. Numerical results are provided to verify the viability of the proposed scheme.
