AC-BPFS: Enhancing File System Performance with Adaptive Anti-Caching for Tiered Storage Systems
Nuthan Manish Ratnam Dokka · 2024
This study addresses the challenges of integrating non-volatile memory (NVM) into existing storage architectures. We propose the Adaptive Cache-Bounded Persistent File System (AC-BPFS), designed to enhance the performance and efficiency of file systems tailored for NVM. Our approach leverages a modular architecture that optimizes data placement and management across diverse memory tiers without data replication. Through extensive evaluations, we demonstrate that AC-BPFS significantly outperforms traditional file systems in terms of latency and throughput while ensuring data consistency and reliability. These findings underscore the potential of NVM to revolutionize storage solutions, paving the way for more scalable and efficient computing environments. Future work will explore the implementation of additional features, such as advanced caching strategies and improved crash consistency mechanisms, to further enhance the capabilities of AC-BPFS.
