With the increasing population and aggressive migration from rural to urban areas, the demand for housing is rapidly rising. The current housing rental market is riddled with many landlords, brokers, arbitrary charges, false rental information and so on, and it is difficult for the government to record and supervise the housing rental situation. Consequently, many housing rental platforms have emerged online which claim to have no intermediaries between the landlord and the tenant. These platforms are however, centralised, which may compromise the integrity of the information managed by them. In order to achieve decentralization and transparency, we propose a blockchain-based system that integrates off-chain property data with smart contract states. Our system utilizes trusted third-party verification for registration and facilitates decentralized payments, ensuring a more secure and transparent process. In this paper we discuss the design and implementation of our blockchain based house-rental system.
