Popular Programming Languages
Tanya Janca · 2025
This chapter dives into securing popular programming languages, including best practices and “gotchas” to avoid. It discusses the important parts for the following languages: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Python, SQL, Node.js (not a language, but a JavaScript runtime environment), Java, TypeScript, C#, PHP, and C/C++. JavaScript is the world's most popular programming language; developers love JavaScript. It's a powerful scripting language that allows developers to create interactive and dynamic content on websites. HTML 5 is the latest and, theoretically, the last version of HTML. When it comes to writing great Python code, it's not just about functionality and performance; it's also about protecting our application and our users from potential vulnerabilities and attacks. TypeScript code is transpiled into plain JavaScript, making it compatible with all JavaScript engines and browsers.
