Private Network Verticals

Srinivasan Balasubramanian · 2024

This chapter goes over several of the typical private network verticals and addresses the aspects that need to be addressed for each. I have used a use case model to provide the relevant context for each of the private network verticals along with some examples. For some of these verticals, additional solutions need to be put in place and where relevant these approaches are discussed. Some of these can be just customized using the existing standards and yet others require standardization for solutions that can be applied across the industry. The required performance criteria to measure and manage are identified for the individual verticals. Some key technological concepts are called out for the vertical from Part-I and Part-II in case the reader wishes to review them. This chapter describes some of the known verticals supported using private networks. By no means are private network applications to be limited to these verticals. This is a fast-evolving field and service demands for these verticals will only grow, including the appearance of other creative verticals in the market. The use case of ad hoc network, campus emergencies, big box retail, collaborating organizations, conference centers, educational institutions, and offices are covered as some exemplary verticals.
