Linda Musser · 2025
Paper files and filing cabinets have largely given way to digital files and storage devices.Organizations are becoming more deliberative about records & data management and many grant funding agencies now require plans for data sharing. These trends, coupled with time-pressed schedules, heighten the importance of thoughtfully selecting one's data storage methods at the beginning of a project. This presentation will highlight a number of factors and questions to consider when selecting data storage methods and media including: file sizes and costs, access, portability, productivity tools, discoverability, and more.Consideration of these factors at the beginning of a project can save time, protect data, and facilitate access and discoverability.
